As a leader in providing innovative strategies for water borne transportation, McKeil Marine is strongly positioned to move a variety of commodities.
Positioned throughout the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway and Eastern Seaboard, our bulk fleet is comprised of several deck barges, hopper barges, and one integrated tug and barge unit, capable of carrying between 1,500 and 12,000 metric tons of cargo.
We specialize in the transport of aluminum sows and ingots, quartz, Kisch (B-scrap), Steel (coils, slabs, billets), forest products, aggregates, scrap metals, iron/zinc/copper concentrates, slag, gypsum, millscale and coke breeze to name a few.
A benefit to barging, over a conventional ship, is the ability to quickly self-discharge cargo using excavators or front-end loaders. On average, discharge rates vary between 350 to 600 metric tons per hour depending upon the cargo type and density. We are also able to discharge directly from the barge to trucks, which can significantly reduce handling costs.
McKeil Marine is also able to transport non-hazardous liquid products, such as brine and calcium utilizing dual-purpose tank/deck barges.
In addition, our services can be tailored to meet the exact demands of our customers.
