Our salvage team specializes in the refloating of grounded tankers and bulk carriers, as well as in the retrieval and removal of wrecks.

Lightering

More and more, foreign vessels are in arriving in the St. Lawrence River loaded over Seaway Draft, and in order for the vessels to proceed into the Great Lakes; they must lighter some of their cargo. Traditionally this cargo was being moved into the lakes via rail, however, McKeil Marine now has equipment positioned in the river to handle the lightering and transport of excess cargo.

This unique service allows the foreign tonnage to maximize their carrying capacity and still be able to deliver the majority of their cargo into the Great Lakes.
